Belarusian-Chinese cars on sale in Minsk

BelTA (Minsk) – The first batch of Belarusian-Chinese assembly cars made by the Borisov-based company SZAO BelGee are available in dealerships in Minsk, BelTA learned from Ms Alena Znachenok, BelGee’s Manager for Public Relations.

As many as 16 Geely SC7 cars are available from BelGee’s official dealership OAO Avtotorgservis. The two companies have signed a dealership agreement on selling and servicing Belarusian-Chinese assembly cars.

OAO Avtotorgservis Director Mr Gennady Zhurok remarked that seven cars have been sold in the last few days. Both individuals and companies buy them, he said. “We have already applied for another eight cars and plan to take 40 cars to sell in April”. Avtotorgservis has the physical infrastructure for servicing BelGee’s cars. At present the service enterprise, which is part of the Belarusian Industry Ministry system, is the only dealership to sell the Geely cars, which are assembled in the Belarusian town of Borisov.

The private joint-stock company SZAO BelGee was set up on 23 December 2011. The investment contract with the Chinese company Geely was signed in March 2012. The enterprise to assemble cars uses premises rented from the Borisov-based company OAO Avtogydrousilitel. The enterprise can use semi-knocked down kits to assemble 10,000 cars per annum. It employs 57 people. SZAO BelGee founders are OAO BelAZ (50% of the shares), the Chinese company Geely (32.5%), and the Belarusian-Chinese automobile parts manufacturer Soyuzavtotekhnologii.
