Video calling service Zoom is taking over the American software company Five9 for 14.7 billion dollars (12.5 billion euros), Zoom CEO Eric Yuan reported in a blog post on Sunday. It is the company’s largest acquisition to date.

这家从前不太知名的公司在新冠病毒全球大流行之后成为爆红的视频会议软件，声望大振，但是现在处于究竟还要不要维护言论自由这一自由世界奉为神圣原则的审问。星期四晚间，这家位于加利福尼亚的公司承认自己接受北京当局的要求，关闭了位于美国以及位于香港的三个人权组织和个人的账号。其中一个是天安门学生领袖周封锁创建的“人道中国”，另一个是曾经是香港支联会主席李卓人的账号。“人道中国”通过ZOOM组织了纪念六四事件31周年国际视频会议。但是这家公司在北京的压力下，叫停正在播出的视频会议，关闭相关账号。直到组织者发现他们的账号被关闭，开始质疑，ZOOM称，“必须遵守所在国法律”，这一事件在美国引发巨大愤怒，共和党参议员里克.斯科特说，这是一个美国公司在向中共磕头，对中共政府感到不满的人士进行审查。人道中国则发表声明指责Zoom如此做法形同与集权政府合作，共同抹去天安门大屠杀的记忆。”
Zoom发言人称，他们采取的做法很“失败”，不应该损害中国大陆以外的使用者。他们目前正在研发有关技术，能让Zoom根据地理位置阻止或移除会议的参与者，以便能遵守当地法律的要求。Zoom称，将于6月30日发布一份新的全球政策。
周锋锁在推特上说，Zoom承认暂时关闭有关账号，他对此表示欢迎，但是他不能接受Zoom“把中国用户同世界其他地区分开”的做法。另一位知名的六四学生领袖王丹表示，美国国会与行政当局中国委员会共同主席鲁比奥正在起草法案，以防范美国通讯平台受到外国政府的政治干扰。

Even with the criticisms, Zoom’s usage continues to spike. The company now hosts 300 million meeting participants a day, Yuan said on Wednesday. Zoom previously said it crossed 200 million daily meeting participants in March.

佩洛西声称华人企业Zoom为“中国实体”,美媒指正
疫情之下，在线办公、在线教育等需求大涨。作为视频会议平台，在美国风头正劲的Zoom，却因为“血统”引得美国政客说三道四。
当地时间4月15日，美国众议院议长南希·佩洛西（Nancy Pelosi）在美国国会回答问题时表示，Zoom是一家“中国实体”（a Chinese entity），所以具有安全隐患。
“公众认为我们可以通过Zoom进行国会投票。可Zoom是一家‘中国实体’，我们被告知不要信任它的安全性。”周二，佩洛西在接受MSNBC采访时声称：“因此这一想法存在挑战，并不像想的那么容易。”
可事实上，Zoom是一家总部设在美国加州圣何塞的美国上市公司，CEO为美籍华裔袁征（Eric Yuan）。
美国媒体CNBC澄清称，Zoom成立于2011年，自2011年4月21日起在特拉华州注册成立。Zoom公司创始人兼首席执行官袁征在1997年从中国移民至美国，此后成为美国公民，他于2011年创立了Zoom。
不过，用户的激增还是使得Zoom股票（NASDAQ：ZM）在美股大跌的背景下逆市快速上涨，从3月18日的118.71美元/股涨至23日的历史高位159.56美元/股。
虽然其股价在4月有所回落，但随后又重新上升。截至4月16日收盘，Zoom股价报150.26美元/股，接近历史高位。

Zoom也被盯上了，理由跟华为一样：创始人是华人，使用北京服务器
多伦多大学旗下的实验室Citizen Lab，爆出了一则消息：
中国人袁征在美国创办的这家Zoom公司，根本就是一家有着“中国心”的公司，不少在北美发生的视频通话是通过中国转接的，而且其加密存在问题，完全没实现端到端加密。
在Citizen Lab的实验中，他们在一个美国用户和一个加拿大用户的视频通话中发现，会议加密和解密的密匙是从北京的Zoom服务器发出的。
也就是说，两个北美人用Zoom视频聊天，中间需要一个在北京的服务器插手。
考虑到Zoom在中国注册了3家公司，甚至在苏州有700多名开发人员，因此这家实验室认为北美用户通过Zoom视频通话的密匙很有可能被泄露给中国官方，通话的内容也就会被获取。
随后，Zoom CEO袁征解释说，北美的视频通话中途绕道中国，是因为如果用户附近的服务器太挤，软件就会去尝试连接备份服务器，这才连到了中国的服务器上。
就好像以前打网游要换线一样，这条线太挤太卡，用户自然就要切换到另外的线上去。
看，走部署在第三方国家的服务器根本不是重点，因为任何一个视频通话服务商都会把服务器架设在全球，重点是其中包括中国。
这简直就是华为故事的换皮版本，华为、大疆、Tiktok、Zoom……这些中国企业或者有中国血统的企业一个个被西方人视作异端，不知道这个名单还要拉多长。
