China’s new bullet trains make debut on Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail. The new models, called “Fuxing,” or rejuvenation, boast top speeds of 400 km/h and a consistent speed of 350 km/h. They are the first high-speed train wholly designed and developed by China.

China develops 400km/h high-speed train to run on different rail systems
CHANGCHUN, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) — Chinese train maker CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. on Wednesday rolled out a new type of high-speed train which can run on different rail systems.
The train, with a standard speed of 400 km per hour, has been developed to cope with different rail systems on international routes, making international rail travel more convenient.

The high-speed connection out of the West Kowloon station links Hong Kong to the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou 80 miles (130 km) away and then onto China’s national rail network.

截至2016年底，中国高铁运营里程超过2.2万公里，位居世界第一位。“四纵四横”高铁网络基本建成，长三角、珠三角、环渤海等城市群高铁已连片成网，东部、中部、西部和东北四大板块实现高铁互联互通。到2020年，全国铁路网规模达到15万公里，其中高速铁路3万公里，覆盖80%以上的大城市，届时中国将建成以“八纵八横”主通道为骨架、区域连接线衔接、城际铁路补充的现代高速铁路网。
